Chess Returns to Paris
A regular stop on the Grand Chess Tour since 2016, the Paris Rapid & Blitz Tournament was the second stop on the 2018 tour. Spectators watched nine of the full tour participants and one wildcard compete against each other in 9 rounds of rapid chess and 18 rounds of blitz chess for a total prize fund of $150,000.
World Champion Magnus Carlsen did not return to the 2018 Paris Rapid & Blitz tournament to reclaim his 2017 win which left the first place up for grabs. After five days of exciting rapid and blitz play, Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura claimed first place prize for the 2018 Paris Rapid & Blitz event.
