Ding Makes it look Easy

The exciting finale of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour was once again part of the London Chess Classic. The semi-finals featured the 4 top players from the seven regular-season tour events with each match consisting of classical, rapid and blitz games. The players competed for an enhanced prize fund totalling USD $350,000.

The 2019 GCT Champion was China's Ding Liren, taking home a total purse of USD 150,000, with an impressive win and a draw in the Rapid games, winning, without any doubt after securing his spot after just two Rapid games on Sunday, with a score of 15-5.

This was the first Grand Chess Tour Championship win for Liren, beating out Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in the finals.

4 Player Knockout

Each knockout match will be contested between two players over two classical, two rapid, and four blitz games. Winners in the semifinals advance to the finals.
