Inaugural Croatia Grand Chess Tour

The 2019 Croatia Grand Chess Tour tournament was the first of two classical events and the second stop on the 2019 Grand Chess Tour. The tournament was hosted in partnership between the Grand Chess Tour and Chess Club e4 from Zagreb as it was the first Grand Chess Tour event to be held in Zagreb. Fans enjoyed watching all 12 of the full tour participants compete in 11 rounds of classical chess for an expanded prize purse of $325,000.

Ultimately, World Champion Magnus Carlsen was crowned the 2019 Croatia Grand Chess Tour winner and secured 20 tour points and the $90,000 first prize.

12 Player Classical Round Robin

An 11-round tournament with one round per day. Each player faces off against every other competitor throughout the tournament. Games are played at classical time controls and may last up to 6 hours each.
